The Experience Center of Smurfit Kappa reaches 120 visits in its first year
Smurfit Kappa celebrates the first anniversary of its Experience Center of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), a space for innovation and improvement of packaging solutions that analyzes the conditions of the same for the specific needs of each client.
This center, which was inaugurated on April 27, 2017, presents more than 550 m2 that constitute the first initiative of this type in the Spanish market and is a unique space for analysis, experimentation and design of personalized products that impact on the point of sale and attract the demand of the final consumer.
The Experience Center of Alcalá de Henares, part of the network of 23 Experience Centers that Smurfit Kappa has deployed around the world to date, is specially designed to investigate and define the ideal packaging proposal for each product, customer and need , and helps its customers to obtain an effective, sustainable and attractive product that enhances its brand image and improves its impact on the linear.

In this pioneering innovation space in the corrugated cardboard industry in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, the shopping experience of the end consumer, his behavior and response to the linear, is studied and recreated, in a virtual and real way, detecting where he directs your look at a supermarket or what your preferences and tastes are. Based on this practical experience, the complete life cycle of the packaging is analyzed and a strategic solution is defined for the client’s business that helps it generate more sales, mitigate risks or reduce costs.
More than 80 different companies have already visited this R & D center, where they have been able to experience exclusive tools such as Innobook, a powerful database with more than 7,000 packaging designs; Store Visualiser, which offers a virtual simulation of the linear with different alternatives that expand the range of possibilities to choose from; o Pack Expert, which generates logistics efficiencies and reduces costs and the environmental impact of the supply chain.
These innovations are added to other Smurfit Kappa services such as SupplySmart, which introduces improvements in the supply chain from optimized packaging solutions; ShelfSmart, which analyzes and enhances the impact of secondary packaging at the point of sale, allowing brands to differentiate and stand out in the battle of the linear; or eSmart, which adapts the packaging to the conditions of e-commerce. Specifically, this latest innovation has been developed specifically for the online channel, where packaging is key to streamline the work of warehouse, transport and product delivery, optimize the logistics chain ensuring that it arrives in perfect condition at your destination and ensuring a adequate consumer experience.
In addition to exceeding more than 120 visits in its first year of activity, the Center has also stood out for its intense training activity, having been attended by more than 50 people from different companies in courses on corrugated cardboard packaging.
