Ten years of the Association of the Route of Sherry Wine and Brandy
The Association of Route of Sherry Wine and Brandy has held on Saturday, July 30th its tenth anniversary in the vineyard El Majuelo, owned by Bodegas Fundador, on the premises of the emblematic Castle Macharnudo.
With the breathtaking view of the fields a few weeks before the harvest, representatives of over one hundred companies, institutions and local entities that make up the Association enjoyed a gala starring wines, gastronomy and flamenco.
Following the intervention of the First Deputy Mayoress of Jerez City Council, Laura Alvarez, a commemorative video, which was followed by a few words of the President of the route, César Saldaña was shown. According to the President, “since its founding ten years ago, the route has claimed to be an example of public-private partnerships, collaboration with a fundamental objective: to maximize the tourism potential of the culture of wine in Jerez and therefore its ability to generate wealth for our territory. ”
To this end, the Association has been working on three separate lines: helping to transform the vast resources of their territory associated with wine tourism into salable products; working from the collective to encourage individual initiatives, and developing a brand, Route Sherry Wine and Brandy, as a recognizable badge that rewards and recognizes excellence in the field of wine tourism of this region.
The Jerez was one of the first wine routes certified in Spain by the Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN) and the Ministry of Tourism and year after year, it has become one of the most visited of Spain, with more than 450.000 visits to wineries and wine museums partners. In addition to these establishments, Route of Sherry Wine and Brandy has hotels, restaurants, tabancos, wine bars, travel agencies and active tourism as well as a variety of companies offering various tourist services, all with a common bond: the presence of the culture of the Sherry wines and brandies.
