4 de October de 2017
On 4th, 5th and 6th October the SOMMET DE L’ELEVAGE (Livestock Summit), the number 1 cattle breeding fair in Europe and the most important meeting of cattle breeds will be held in the French town of Clermont-Ferrand (France). In this edition, this outstanding cattle-raising event will emphasize its international dimension, with a series of “technical tours”, as a complement to the visits of traditional farms, which will take place throughout Tuesday, October 3rd, and which will be directed mainly towards international visitors.
Within these technical tours, there are four programmed circuits:
• Beef cattle sector
• Milk cattle sector
• Sheep sector
• Race Limousine
The international character of this fair will also be evident in the Great International Livestock Evening, which, like every year, is organized jointly with FRANCE GÉNÉTIQUE ÉLEVAGE, and to which the different foreign delegations are invited. During this Evening, the group of animal races exposed during the show will parade in the ring of the hall of the Zénith d’Auvergne. Wednesday October 4th, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Ring of Zénith
As a prelude to the International Evening, foreign visitors will be able to discover the whole of the French sheep breeds present at SOMMET due to an international presentation (French-English) organized in the ring of sheep. Wednesday October 4th, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., Ring of the Sheep.
Continuing with the commitment to the internationalization of this fair, note that on Friday, 6th October, in the morning, FRANCE GROUP and ADEPTA will organize a round table on Belarusian agriculture and livestock, its priorities and the areas in which it could be strengthened the French cooperation, under the heading: ROUND-TABLE FRANCE-BELARUS: towards effective cooperation in the field of livestock. Another noteworthy fact is that in its 2017 edition, this summit will have Iran as a guest of honor.
After Colombia in 2016, it is Iran’s turn to be the guest country of honor for this 26th edition. With a wide variety of climates, Iranian soil allows the cultivation of a wide variety of products such as cereals, numerous fruits and vegetables, cotton, spices, tea, etc., and livestock consisting essentially of sheep (50 million heads), goats and approximately 9 million cattle. On the occasion of SOMMET DE L’ÉLEVAGE, this country, whose agriculture contributes to the GDP with 13% and generates approximately 25% of the country’s jobs, will come to promote its agriculture and livestock in a dedicated booth and put arranged by the organizers.
To strengthen ties between the two nations, SOMMET will host the Mixed France / Iran Agriculture Committee. Created in 2015, it brings together the Ministers of Agriculture of the two countries and aims to define a program of future bilateral cooperation measures
