Rural Pride Awards 2016

The Rural Studies Foundation will deliver next July 6th in Madrid the awards which every year grants to individuals or institutions who have excelled for their support to the rural world. This year, the awards in the category “Rural Pride” have been awarded to the player, Andrés Iniesta, union leader Cándido Méndez, and the president of rural women Fademur Extremadura, Catalina García. In another category, that of “Journalism and Communication”, has ruled in favor of journalist cacereño J.R. Alonso de la Torre. In coming days will get to know the other awards.
The Foundation for Rural Studies, established within the Union of Small Farmers (UPA) provides, since 2000, awards homonyms to those characters or institutions that best represent the work for the recognition of the rural world in all its aspects. The Foundation awards prizes of Political Economy and Social Sciences, Culture, Art and Literature, and Journalism and Communication, as well as the Special Prize Foundation.
Since 2008, also is granted the Rural Pride Prize to those citizens whose activity has been an example of life in the struggle for the rights of women and men in rural areas.
In 2010, the prize of Journalism and Communication renamed “Esteban Lopez Plaza Prize for Journalism and Communication”, in memory of former chief of Press Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers from 1996 to 2008.
