Fruit Attraction day on availability of pesticides for minor crops

As part of the eighth edition of the International Fair of Fruit and Vegetable, Fruit Attraction, will take place on thursday, 6th october, the conference “Ways to improve the availability of plant protection products for minor crops” which is organized by FEPEX and AEPLA, to analyze the initiatives carried in the European Union and in some Member States, to overcome this problem, very present in the fruit and vegetable crops.
A wide range of agricultural products that do not generate sufficient incentives for the industry is interested in registering pesticides to combat effectively and safely pests and diseases that affect them. This creates a lack of authorized plant protection products can lead to significant losses in these crops, called minor, where most fruits and vegetables of great social and economic importance in Spain are included. It is estimated that in Europe the value of minor crops reaches 22% of the value of crop production in the EU
Recently established initiatives both in the EU and in some Member States to improve the availability of plant protection products in these crops, initiatives will be analyzed in this day
The conference will be opened by the Director General of Health of the Agricultural Production of the Ministry of Agriculture, Agri-Food and Environment, Valentín Almansa, by the President of AEPLA (Business Association for Plant Protection), Adonay Obando and the Director of FEPEX Jose Maria Pozancos.
Later, it will be divided into three blocks. On the one hand, the Director of Regulatory Affairs of the European Association for Plant Protection (ECPA), Euros Jones, will present the situation of minor crops in Regulation 1107/2009, assessing their implementation in the EU.
In a second block initiatives in the Member States will be analyzed to improve the availability of plant protection products for minor crops. And in particular will deepen in the case of France, with the intervention expert on minor crops the Ministry of Agriculture, Agrifood and Forest, Jean-Claude Malet and in the case of Spain, with the participation of the Head of Area the General Department of Health and Vegetal and Forestry Hygiene of the Ministry of Agriculture, José Vicente Rodriguez Herráiz.
Finally, there will be a discussion table with the participation of the aforementioned speakers and the Director of AEPLA, Carlos Palomar, and the President of the Sectorial Minor Crops Proexport (Murcia) and Director General of the company Kernel Export, who will provide the vision of the production sector.
