Conference: “Women in the economic development of rural areas”

Merida will host on Thursday, October 15 more than six hundred women who live and work in small towns across Spain. Under the title “Women in the economic development of rural areas”, the federation of rural women Fademur held a day of discussion and proposals on the Alcazaba Extremadura Cultural Center capital.
Rural women defend their “essential and protagonist” in sustainable rural development role. “Without us there would be people, bring life, creativity, work and hope to the people,” they say. More than twenty speakers will participate in the debates and narrate success stories and experiences of good practices.
Throughout the day, people like the President of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernandez Vara, the secretary general of the Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers, Lorenzo Ramos, or the Secretary General of UGT, Candido Mendez, will debate with attendees on sustainable economy, rural development, shared ownership of farms and livestock and best practices in entrepreneurship.
The event also coincides with the International Day of Rural Women, which Fademur read a manifesto defending women and deliver the Rural Entrepreneurship Award 2015 as well as prominent individuals and for his work defending the rights of rural women . In addition, twenty-five rural artisans in Spain, REDMUR participate in the fair to be held parallel to the conference and will be open all day.
