More aid to Andalusian producers affected by the Russian veto
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development (CAPDER) of Andalusia has opened a new call for aid to farmers affected by the Russian veto. Interested parties have until 31 July 2016 to request payment of the subsidies corresponding to operations management exceptional crises resulting from such veto.
They may benefit from this measure recognized will be organizations of Fruit and Vegetables (OPFHs) and individual producers in the same sector, that, between January 1st and June 30th this year, have executed operations withdrawals for free distribution to organizations authorized charitable and welfare centers, animal feed, biodegradation plot by spreading and composting plant center or authorized waste management. In addition, producers who have renounced to harvest or have harvested green during this period will also be able to access these grants.
The exceptional crisis management measures were launched in the summer of 2014 as a result of the Russian import ban on certain products of the European Union (EU), including fruit and vegetables. Specifically, they are eligible for such aid producers of tomatoes, carrots, peppers, cucumbers, pickles, apples, pears, sweet oranges, clementines, mandarins (including tangerines and satsumas), lemons, wilkings and other similar citrus hybrids, peaches nectarines, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli, mushrooms and berries (raspberries and blackberries, currants and blueberries).

In the previous call, in which the actions carried out between August 8 and December 31 2015 are included, they correspond aid amounting in total to 774,332 euros. This amount is distributed in 471,153 euros for producers in the province of Almeria, 280,676 euros to farmers in Seville, and 22,503 euros for producers of Granada.
Over 9 million to date
The Ministry has managed to date payments of more than 9.2 million euros in exceptional crisis management measures due to the Russian veto since August 2014. Following the Russian ban on the entry of EU products, the European Commission (CE) approved the payment of aid to affected producers. Specifically, these grants were set aside for actions destined for the free distribution (soup kitchens or charities), withdrawals for destruction or green harvesting or waiver of harvest.
In total, in the calls for 2014 and 2015, the Sevillian producers affected by the Russian veto received 4.1 million. They are followed by almerienses farmers, who perceived 3.2 million and Cordoba, which totaled 1.1 million. The aid granted to producers of Cadiz during the same period amounted to 466,029 euros; in Huelva, 111,899 euros; and Granada, to 103,679 euros.
