Koppert presents in Iberflora new solutions biocontrol
Koppert Systemas, a world leader in natural pollination and biological pest control will be released in this year’s edition of Iberflora new strategies for sustainable production in ornamental plants and flowers. As part of the fair, the company organizes with the MPS certifying a day to provide biological answers to growing market demands.
Reinventing the production of ornamental plants and cut flowers by introducing new strategies for sustainable production is the challenge it has set Koppert Biological Systems.
Koppert will reveal this year in Iberflora the excellent results obtained with the application protocols ornamental integrated pest natural enemies and the use of beneficial microorganisms that improve the health of the plant from the roots
The prohibition of some countries to the marketing of ornamental plant with residues of pesticides has opened the way for Koppert in Spain direct its efforts towards improving the competitiveness of producers of plant and flower, in order to facilitate the opening of new markets. A strategy that is based on publicizing the Spanish sector nursery plants the advantages of sustainable production systems based on control pests and diseases through natural solutions that avoid dependence on agrochemicals. With these proposals are banished therefore the trade problems caused by the presence of residues.
Currently, major producers of ornamental in Spain have already introduced Koppert microbiological techniques, with which have reduced almost to zero mortality plant problems root rot or fungal diseases. Overall, the benefits of sustainable production in ornamental focus on a reduction in water consumption and fertilizer and a lower cost of labor. This is possible because the plants suffer less stress and grow faster and because the time taken for single beneficial insects is much lower than needed for phytosanitary treatments.
The biological pest control in ornamental is an important advantage for the health of workers in nurseries, which are not exposed to potentially dangerous chemicals
Special mention improving competitiveness arising from the use of biological pest control in the production of herbs, because it allows completely guarantee food security, so important when it comes to products that can be reached eaten raw.
Working day
Koppert strengthen its presence in Iberflora with the celebration next Friday, September 30th, starting at 11 am, of a technical seminar organized jointly with the Dutch MPS certification to be held in the room Joaquín Rodrigo de Feria Valencia. Entitled “Strategies for sustainable production in ornamental production in response to growing market demands”, the day wants to become a meeting point for all interested companies to innovate and redirect its output to zero waste.
The conference will be attended Royal Flora Holland to explain the sustainability requirements of international retail. In addition, will intervene the responsible for biological control of the Palmerillas Cajamar Experimental Station, to analyze the design of native hedges as auxiliary shelter wildlife, while the company Viverpal will discuss treatment thresholds ornamental plant protection products.
The planned program is completed with a presentation by Koppert biological control in ornamental, and another paper on responses MPS offering its certification system. Moderation of the day will be given by Rafael Laborda, professor of Agroforestry Ecosystems of the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
