InnovaChile under Spanish training in horticultural economics
The Development Agency of Murcia (INFO) hosted a delegation of experts from InnovaChile, the state agency for promoting innovation in the Andean country, and the University of the Pacific, who has shown various research centers Murcia and horticultural production facilities, in order to cooperate in the draft Platform for Economic Monitoring of Horticultural Products.
The delegation was composed of representatives of InnovaChile Corfo (CORFO) and the Universidad del Pacifico which is developing a monitoring platform for about five hundred farmers in the Agricultural Society of the North, in the valleys of Azapa and Lluta , at the northernmost tip of the country, on the border with Bolivia.

One of the main objectives of the Chilean project is the impulse this technological tool to strengthen the cooperation among the 400 vegetable growers in the area to increase productivity and profits.
According to the delegation of Chile, the plan aims to develop a statistical model of market intelligence to support decision-making by the producers regarding the production and marketing of vegetables. Thus, the gap of information asymmetry between farmers and market shortened.
It is a model that will improve the business management of farmers and increase by 25% average economic return on their operation, so that the extensive experience of Murcia association and their extensive knowledge management products exported in fresh prove them of great help.
During their stay the Chilean delegation had the opportunity to exchange information with representatives of FECOAM (Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Murcia), as well as Proexport (Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Vegetables of the Region of Murcia) and visited the headquarters of AILIMPO (Interprofessional Association of lemon and grapefruit) and the Organic Farming Council of the Region of Murcia (CAERM).
