ICEX in the USA gourmet mecca

West Coast American country will target of eight Spanish companies which are going to know the characteristics of the market for gourmet products. ICEX Spain Export and Investment organized the tour of shops and supermarkets in this niche business of food and fair Winter Fancy Food Show, which runs from 15 to 17 January visit.

The activity consists of a visit to gourmet shops and supermarkets in San Francisco to explain in situ the world of retail and learn how products are marketed for the company to evaluate and design your strategy introduction to the American market.

Also there will be a visit to the fair Winter Fancy Food Show, held in parallel in the Californian city, in order to meet the fair offer, companies, etc. and consider future participation for non-exhibitors. He also will meet, at the fair, a large participation of Spanish companies.

In the framework of this visit they will also take place two seminars, one on gourmet products in the US, where market size, developments and business strategy will seek to achieve success, and a dinner-seminar in a Spanish restaurant in the to be informed on the operation of the distribution.

By provinces, the eight companies involved in this activity come from Córdoba (1), Balearic Islands (1) Madrid (3), Caceres (1), Lugo and Barcelona (1).

United States is the largest market outside the European Union and Spanish agri-food beverages, ranking seventh in the ranking of target markets for our exports.

Sustained trend for our exports in recent years, the huge domestic demand, the size of the American food market and the growing interest, awareness and demand specific product make Spanish America, with special emphasis on the West Coast, in a key destination for our products.

Spanish exports of food products and beverages United States reached between January and September 2015, 1,049 million euros, representing an increase of 15.79% over the same period in 2014. The olive oil with 203 million euros exported from January to September 2015, table olives 146 million euros exported wines with DO 92 million and 66 million cheeses are the star products of our shopping in the United States.
