Grupo Agrotecnología and the University of Granada collaborate to promote advances in research
The Alicante company Grupo Agrotecnología has been collaborating with the University of Granada for several years in several research and development projects to boost its advances in this field. There are several lines of research in which both parties work together: the development of novel systems for the production of microorganisms, disease control agents and plant growth promoters, as well as new formulation schemes beneficial to soil-plant systems and the development of new products.
In the words of its director general, Enrique Riquelme, “Grupo Agrotecnología believes in the symbiosis between university research and the productive sector, since the benefits are mutual. Thus, scientists can see their research into products and their marketing, while the company can offer new sustainable biotech solutions in an increasingly competitive market”.
Nikolav Bojkov Vassilev, Industrial Microbiologist and Professor at the University of Granada: “for companies it is more productive and integral to collaborate with the scientific community, instead of closing down to do R & D in their own centers”
Bojkov Vassilev explains that this university has been collaborating with Agrotechnology Group since 2015 and that they have open different lines of research in the field of protection and stimulation of crops, as well as new formulas beneficial to the soil, with the purpose of making an agriculture more ecological and zero residue. “Science offers private companies new technologies developed at the laboratory level with the possibility of transferring them to a productive scale, thereby increasing the sustainability of the entire production chain,” he adds, in the words of Professor Vassilev, the agreements with private companies mean transfers of knowledge and results at a practical level and for companies means an increase of competitiveness compared to competitors, thanks to the scientific variant of their products.
