Elections in Argentina: Scioli and Macri, to the ballotage
It is already final. There will be an unprecedented second round of the presidential election, after a very narrow difference between the official candidate Daniel Scioli and the opposition Mauricio Macri. The second round is on 22 November.
For the first time in the history of the South American country, the next president is settled in the second round, after none of the candidates reached the percentage needed to avoid a runoff.
With 95.16% of polling stations, the ruling Daniel Scioli gets the 36,63% of the votes, while the opposition candidate Mauricio Macri, flagship of the alliance’s change, the total 34.55%. This is a hard blow for the ruling, even expect to win in the first round, ignoring polls that sponsored the best performance of the candidate Kirchner. Sergio Massa, a dissident Peronist, will become an important factor thanks to his third place and 21.30% of the vote. His voice now becomes crucial.
The second round is now a reality: November 22. In the province of Buenos Aires, while the candidate Pro (member of the Alliance Party’s change), María Eugenia Vidal, wins with 39.69% to Anibal Fernandez Kirchner (34.70%), accounted for more than 61 % of the vote. The fall of the ruling is widespread throughout the country.
Before the first results were known, in the macrismo already talking about a second round. “In today changes the politics of this country. In his speech, opposition leader and former president of Boca Juniors called leaders of other parties to join his campaign to win in November.
