DS Smith is consolidated in Spain as a leader in the packaging sector
DS Smith, European leader in the packaging sector, consolidates this position also in Spain just four years after its entry into the Iberian Peninsula. The group of London origin landed in Spain with the purchase of Andopack, in 2014 and the Lantero Group, in 2015 and acquired the Portuguese companies GoPaca and P & I Displays and Packaging in 2016. During this period, and with the constant objective of continuing to expand presence In the Iberian market, it has managed to employ more than 1,400 workers in the 19 plants it has today distributed throughout the peninsula.
Globally, DS Smith adds a turnover of 4,000 million euros and has 26,000 workers distributed across five continents, being considered one of the leading companies in the global packaging industry and one of the best known brands in the sector.
Part of the growth of DS Smith during the last period is given by the solutions that the company has developed for the ecommerce market, a sector that has grown in Spain around 20% and that faces challenges different from those of the companies of large consumption and industry due to its complex distribution chain.
Likewise, DS Smith’s business strategy based on increasing its customers’ sales, minimizing potential risks and reducing costs throughout the supply chain, as well as a close and personalized relationship with the client, encouraged during the past year the opening of its first ‘Impact Center’ in Iberia. It is a building annexed to the central that the company has in Torrejón de Ardoz and that puts value on the role of packaging, being “an open space for our customers to experience the entire process of packaging, from the supply chain the back of store until the linear point of sale.
