Citrosol, technology company of the year in 2015 Cepyme Awards

Citrosol has become a hub of knowledge, through an extensive network of alliances and partnerships it has built with private and public entities whose common name R & D. The result of this research and popular science has been sustained growth in recent years, which has doubled its turnover and the recent award Cepyme 2015.

Citrosol has become a hub of knowledge, through an extensive network of alliances and partnerships it has built with private and public entities whose common name R & D. The result of this research and popular science has been sustained growth in recent years, which has doubled its turnover and the recent Cepyme 2015 prize, awarded by the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Spanish Federation autonomous, and received in Madrid from King Philip VI.

“The award for technological innovation, Cepyme 2015, connects with our philosophy, so our satisfaction and gratitude is greatest,” he describes the CEO and Scientific Company, Benito Orihuel, “so we want to thank the efforts of all our staff , trust and encouragement of our customers, and providing suppliers, universities and public and private research centers with whom we cooperate”.

Orihuel graphically describes the activity of the Valencian company: “In our research work we apply the scientific method to control post-harvest physiological disorders, in our development transform knowledge into products and processes, and finally when we innovate use the knowledge and experience gained in developing systems increasingly error-free automatic treatment”.

Citrosol won the award in the category of SME Technological Innovation. The jury had the strategy of technological innovation Citrosol into account; its structure in R + D + i, including agreements and collaborations; their human, financial and management and dedicated to R + D + i communication resources; and the economic impact and the capitalization of results from technological innovation.

Innovation philosophy Citrosol

The challenge of innovation Citrosol is displayed in more than 1.5 million euros annually reinvests its revenues in R & D. The result of this investment effort are its patents. Almost a dozen, including those granted, which are pending and others in the pipeline at this time. Among the first patents they are listed in Spain wax coating citrus washing and disinfection of fruit and vegetables (Citrocide ® Systems); and other countries such as Morocco and South Africa, have patented equipment and methods of application of fungicides.

In this context, the body gains knowledge platform where Citrosol day today and has participated as actors different entities with which it has created a genuine network for project implementation and promotion of the R + D + i. Among these actors are the Instituto Superior Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) Agrochemicals and Food Technology (IATA); the National Center for Food Safety and Technology; the Valencian Institute of Agrarian Research (IVIA); the University of Valencia; and Miguel Hernandez University (UMH), Jaume I (UJI), Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPC) and the University of Nottingham in Malaysia SDN BHD.

R + D + i 2014

Only last year there were nine research programs that worked in the R + D + i of Citrosol. Some of them control scalding pears and apples, development of a new formulation of EU spray wax finish line, development of formulations for coating waxes pineapples, improved formulations of Ca and Fortisol® fitofortificantes Fortisol® Ca Plus, project update artificial vision system (CitroVisión®) or improving citrus wax coating at low temperature drying AS Citrosol EU.

“We develop more effective and more benefits in the environmental dimension in addition to improving application equipment products” explains Benito Orihuel, “work to give greater value to our customers and to reduce industrial variability, which are achieved better results in arrivals of fruit to their destinations. ”

To accomplish all this research work has Citrosol Potríes in their laboratory facilities and pilot plant fully equipped to develop their R + D + i: microbiological laboratory, chemical laboratory equipped with two HPLC and spectrophotometer gas chromatograph, plant physiology laboratory equipped with texturometer and a colorimeter, pilot plant reactor equipped with pilot manufacturing emulsions, drencher pilot enforcement units and pilot line treatment of cold storage and degreening chambers.
