Citrosol, CEPYME 2015 Technology Innovation Award
Citrosol Valencia has won the award given by the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises (CEPYME) and the Spanish Federation of Autonomous (CEAT), among nearly 200 companies that have chosen these business awards. The award was presented at a ceremony presided at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid SM Philip VI.
Citrosol, who started as a finalist, along with two other companies, in the category of SME Technology Innovation has been done with the award for innovative company of the year. To access to this final stage the jury considered that Citrosol has excelled in 2014 for having generated value in the market through technological innovation.
The winners were unveiled in a ceremony presided at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid by SM Philip VI, who in his speech highlighted the nature of innovation as a vehicle for export: “The larger your size, the greater your productivity, innovation and export capacity; and larger also your chances of access to different sources of funding, “stressed the monarch,” and the more companies you may be that exportéis and broader geographic diversification and export volume, the greater your contribution to GDP and the creation job”.
Along the head of state has also been involved in the presentation of the awards finance minister, Cristobal Montoro.
The CEO and scientific company, Benito Orihuel, said that “Citrosol is a leader in the field of post-harvest technology and to protect fruits and vegetables, allowing treatments long periods of transport between harvest and consumption, reducing costs environmental and ensuring food security. ”
Solve the jury thanks to her Citrosol has improved its products and services and internal efficiency of its processes, thus achieving greater capitalization as a result of technological innovations.
The criteria that the jury took into account have been the strategy of technological innovation, the structure in R + D + i, including agreements and collaborations, human, financial, management and communication dedicated to R & D resources on economic impact and the capitalization of results from technological innovation. Since 2008 the company has experienced an increase in human capital of 48%, increased the staffing of 50-74 workers, especially in the R + D + i.
It has areas of expertise in biology and post-harvest technology, Electromechanical and Engineering, Quality Management, Chemistry and Microbiology, who “provided with the ability to offer increasingly effective and efficient solutions,” said Orihuel.
These II CEPYME 2015 Awards aim to promote the social recognition of the entrepreneur and disclose the performance of its work in the service of society, as part of an integrated production network mainly by SMEs and freelancers, representing more than 99% of the companies, almost two thirds of GDP, and hold 75% of employment.
At present, the Valencian company has agreements with major Spanish universities Miguel Hernandez and Valencia Polytechnic University and International University of Nottingham as in Malaysia SDN and also with leading Science and Technology to promote R & D Centers + i, as the IATA (Institute of Agricultural Chemistry and Food Technology) integrated in the CSIC, and the IVIA (Valencian Institute for Agricultural Research). Since last year Citrosol is part of the Department of Innovation Gandia Campus of the Polytechnic University of Valencia to promote innovation in enterprises, stimulation and acceleration of youth entrepreneurship in innovative sectors and fostering culture of innovation.
