Biocultura: II Entrepreneurs Awards

To do the best business practices in the organic sector in the form of these awards given on 13 November in Madrid, IFEMA, Feria within BioCultura recognized.
The “ecoentrepeneurs BioCultura Awards” are visible mission and encourage best business practices in the organic sector, thereby contributing to the development and expansion of a greener, low-carbon economy, fair and inclusive. Therefore, the Awards are designed to promote SME young Spanish organic sector prove that they have been able to create a high social and environmental value to his trade, either by offering an ecological, respectful product with the environment, a new service that saves natural resources and reduce pollution, either by exhibiting innovative business model that opens new lines of intervention that extend the range of the green economy.

This is the challenge for the future that BioCultura and its allies Greenbiz (Business Green Spain) arise.
A multidisciplinary jury assessed the finalists for the awards as:
• The innovative nature in all areas: in the product or service offered in the business model in work organization, marketing, distribution and sale, labeling, etc.
• The forces of the founding team of the project and network partners: experience, knowledge, qualities / skills, etc.
• The environmental value: energy saving, transportation, recycling, ecological footprint, mitigation / adaptation to climate change, etc.
• The social value: integration into the local community, resource development, employment, gender equality, corporate social responsibility, the multiplier effect of the project on the local economy, capacity to generate employment, etc.
• Economic and financial viability: economic self-sufficiency and financial.
“The sector of social and ecological entrepreneurship and innovation has grown rapidly in the last five years in Spain. The quality of proposals and creativity of young entrepreneurs responsibility is reflected in projects submitted to the competition and has made the final decision were hard-fought, “in the opinion of one of the judges, a member of the Fitness Association. In this second edition it turns to highlight the quality and originality of many business projects in our country. The statement has been difficult, say the organizers, as most of the participants projects have achieved high scores. Therefore, in the end the organizers have decided to give two third prizes. These projects demonstrate that you can get a company where the protection of the environment and people have a very important role.
Finally the winners of this second edition are:
1st Prize: Orchards Soria, social economy project based on the sale of organic vegetables and canned vegetables made from the surplus. This company owned by Soria stay cives mundi (development NGOs) Future Soria (Soria Investment Company) and the Foundation for Assistance to Disabled and Sick Psychic Soria.
It employs mentally disabled people and people at risk of exclusion while promoting organic farming of vegetables, recovering abandoned land and native varieties and works with farmers in the area.
2nd Prize: Nostoc Biotech is a company dedicated to the manufacture, distribution and sale of bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides for agriculture from proprietary technology and research agreements with universities and technology centers. Nostoc products are an alternative to chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The company works closely with farmers who use them.
3rd Prize: Positive Fashion is a company of distribution and marketing of sustainable fashion through their store “on line”. It is a space where to buy handcrafted products manufactured under ethical criteria with ecological or recycled materials and a social component. Are stories behind every product innovation, entrepreneurship, stories by name. Cultures maintaining its origins as the Wayuu, women are the engine of your family or displaced by political partner who had to start their lives in conflicts elsewhere.
3rd Prize: Sheedo is a handmade paper from cotton fiber, biodegradable and that its composition contains seeds that can germinate when use ends. The role was a small workshop made from recycled cotton from the textile industry and employs disabled fibers. In papermaking any chemical compound is not used.
