Argentina: sheep producers affected by drought, exempt from paying

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina, which leads Carlos Casamiquela, has reported that small and medium Patagonian farmers affected by precipitation of volcanic ashes and drought will be exempted from paying principal and interest on loans requested prior to 4 June 2011.

“The national state is adjacent to producers hit by weather emergencies, accompanying tools, exemption from taxes and collaborating with their recovery and development,” said Casamiquela on the measure published in the Official Gazette.

As enforcement authority and based on the official resolution, the Ministry of Agriculture of Argentina establishes guidelines and procedures to verify the real involvement of the production conditions in the Patagonian establishments located in areas of emergency and / or disaster after productive recovery region.

Remission of debt, including loans granted under the law for the Recovery of Sheep Husbandry No. 25,422, in character of non-repayable contributions (ANR), producers whose facilities are located in areas affected by drought and precipitation volcanic ash.

They included within the category of small and medium producers who operate with less than 5000 head of sheep, when applying for credit.
