Argentina close ties with the US Department of Agriculture and the World Bank
The Ministry of Agro Industry of Argentina (Minagri) has strengthened ties with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the World Bank, following meetings recently held by his undersecretary of Agriculture, Luis Urriza, with representatives of both entities. Some encounters that served to see estimates of agricultural production and the National Irrigation Plan.
According to Luis Urriza, “work in conjunction with the USDA is vital to maintain quality of the processes of agricultural production estimate of the Ministry and to update those processes into the future”.
Regarding meetings with the World Bank, the main issue addressed was irrigation. The Ministry delegation was received by Rita Cestti and Javier Zulleta, responsible for the area of water resource management in Latin America for the World Bank. Also participated Undersecretary of Water Resources of the Nation, Pablo Bereciartúa. As explained Urriza, “the National Plan Irrigation of Minagri is very ambitious and we need support from organizations like the World Bank, both for the definition of the necessary tools to finance the planned investment that can reach for the next 5 years, between public and private investment, the seven billion dollars”.
Undersecretary, along with an integrated entourage by Juan Cruz Molina, Secretary of Agriculture of Cordoba and Miguel Tezanos Pinto, Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Buenos Aires, previously participated in meetings with the Dean of the University of Nebraska and Governor Local, John Peter Ricketts.
