AREFLH welcomes a new EU policy officer
A new Brussels-based representative has just joined AREFLH’s administrative team. Luca Contrino is now replacing Andrea Tivoli as the new EU policy officer since the beginning of March.
After 4 years at AREFLH, Andrea recently entered the European Commission in the rural development services. As for Luca Contrino, he will use his past experiences within the European Commission (Directorate General for Development and Cooperation and for the DG of Regional and Urban Policy) to extend the network and lobbying missions of AREFLH. His tasks currently cover priority issues such as the monitoring of the CAP and the fruit and vegetable CMO, the Green Deal and the Farm to Fork strategy.
Simona Caselli, President of AREFLH said: “We wish Andrea Tivoli much success in his new role and thank him very much for his valuable work during these 4 years at AREFLH. With the arrival of Luca Contrino the association continues to invest in an ever more effective relationship with EU institutions for the benefit of its members “.
With the arrival of a new German member, AREFLH continues its expansion and brings together European regions and representatives of fruit and vegetable producers from 10 countries in Europe: from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands and Portugal.
AREFLH’s (Assembly of European Horticultural Regions) main missions are:
- to represent its 17 member regions and 35 APOs, from 10 countries in Europe;
- to defend the economic and social interests of the fruit, vegetable and horticultural sectors in Europe;
- to foster exchanges of best practices, partnerships and joint projects between regions and professional organisations;
- to actively seek new solutions for the main issues affecting the future of the fruit and vegetables production in Europe.
