Tenderstem Royale®, nominated for the Fruit Logistics Innovation Awards
Tenderstem Royale®, developed by Sakata, will compete for the most coveted award in the fresh produce industry, as this new vegetable has been considered one of the 10 most important innovations of Fruit Logística 2020, the world’s leading trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector. This natural cross between Chinese green cabbage and broccoli with an unmistakable purple stem has been selected by a committee of experts as a finalist of all nominations submitted. Now the last word is the more than 78,000 visitors from 135 countries who have been called to vote their innovation of the year during the first two days of the fair.

What is Tenderstem Royale®?
Its striking purple color, its sweet and tender taste, its great nutritional contribution and the versatility it has in the kitchen are some of the attractions of this new vegetable, edible from the stem to the tip, very rich in protein and fiber. Prima sister of what is known in the United Kingdom as Tenderstem® and in the rest of Europe as Bimi®, it is a new variety of basics, born to respond to the demands of an increasingly demanding market.
Following the great success of Tenderstem® in the United Kingdom, Coregeo® fresh product marketing specialists launched Tenderstem Royale® in 2019 at the M&S supermarket chain where it is having a great reception. In the medium term it will be launched in the European market.
Tenderstem Royale® has been developed by the company of Japanese origin, Sakata Vegetables Europe, specialists in research, production and distribution of seeds, world leader in basics, among other crops, where its presence is also important.
It is grown in different geographical locations; to try to ensure its production and introduction in the markets, in an orderly and gradual way.
