Tradecorp acquires the French SDP and enters the adjuvant market
The acquisition of SDP, which has been present in the French market since 1991 and has developed an international network, will allow Tradecorp, the specialized plant nutrition division of the group, to consolidate its position in some important markets. SDP adjuvants will strengthen Tradecorp’s global portfolio.
Through its different companies, Sapec Agro Business can now offer a solid portfolio of crop protection products, bioinsecticides (through the recent acquisition of Idai Nature), adjuvants and plant nutrition specialties, as well as a varied portfolio of biostimulants high quality. This consolidated portfolio will allow the group to develop and offer integrated crop management programs, aimed at a more efficient use of agricultural inputs to optimize crop yields, respecting environmental and health restrictions.
The SDP factories, located in Laon and Pinon (France), will reinforce the flexibility and production capacity of Sapec Agro Business, while its open-field infrastructures and greenhouses for testing will be used for the entire group.
Eric van Innis, CEO of Sapec Agro Business, explains that the current strategy of the Group is aimed at obtaining “a true understanding of the needs of customers to provide customized solutions that help them maximize the quality and yield of their crops, while respecting environmental and health restrictions. ” Van Innis adds: “We have to be able to offer a complete service, based on both professional tailored advice and a comprehensive and unique portfolio with leading solutions.”
In relation to the recent acquisition of SDP, Nicolas Lindemann, Executive Director of Tradecorp, states: “This acquisition brings new synergies and expertise to the group. SDP is an expert in product lines that will complement ours and allow growth. Customers throughout the Sapec Agro Business network will have access to the company’s know-how and ranges, thus maximizing their results in the field. ” In the long term, the objective of the group is “to develop new lines, twin packs and other ideas that will provide greater added value to the market”.
The founder of SDP, Laurent Steinmann, who has made the decision to retire, comments on the transaction: “We have come a long way since the founding of the company in 1991. We have gone from being a company of one person and a product to having more than 70 employees and more than 70 products in our catalog. I am sure that this is a great opportunity that will bring success and international growth to SDP. “
