Deere launches its 2022 sustainability goals
On the occasion of International Environment Day around the world, Deere & Company has set its sights on a battery of strong sustainability goals that the company and its employees will try to achieve before the end of the 2022 fiscal year.
“The sustainability goals for 2022 confirm John Deere’s commitment to a planet that is constantly changing and that needs to protect its most precious resources – both nature and human beings” says Samuel R. Allen, CEO of the company. “The objectives will stimulate improvements in performance and innovation,” he says.
The commitment focuses on five key areas:
Occupational Safety – Achieve excellence in safety through greater focus on key indicators, risk reduction, safety, health and prevention systems.
Use of sustainable energy – Reduce GHG emissions by 15% through the use of 50% renewable energy and optimize the use of energy.
Responsible use of water consumption – implement procedures in water management in 100% of locations with water shortages.
Increase recycling – recycle 85% of waste.
Sustainable products – Reduce the impact on the environment, including CO2 emissions in 90% of new products. Increase the use of sustainable materials by increasing the sales of remanufactured components by 30%. Increase recycled, recyclable and renewable content.
“The sustainability goals will help drive manufacturing and supply excellence, focus on environmental stewardship and further increase John Deere as a great place to work,” says Allen.
