The Fair ‘Nova Agriculture’ (Italian) hosted the second European event of Trelleborg for agricultural tires
Fair “Nova Agriculture” held in Bologna, Italy, on July 21st, hosted the second stop of the European Road Show that has been organizing Trelleborg agricultural tires under the slogan “Produce more with less”. Throughout the day field demonstrations were conducted to show the importance of correct inflation pressure for agricultural operations, as recommended in the Trelleborg Load Calculator (TLC).
For this, a tractor New Holland T8.410 Auto Command, equipped with Trelleborg tires front IF 650 / 60R34 TM1000 High Power and rear tires IF 900 / 60R42 TM1000 High Power, made a tour on a track of 200 meters on two lanes with different inflation pressures. The tractor was equipped with transparent cylinders, showing fuel consumption during the test. On the track, a digital stopwatch measured the time difference in the two lanes and an application calculated efficiency savings. Measurements of the tire footprint and soil compaction were also performed.
As the Marketing Director of Agricultural and Forestry Tires Trelleborg Wheel Systems, Lorenzo Ciferri said air pressures are not just a matter of efficiency but also long-term productivity. “First it is important to prevent damage to the ground, he explains, as soil compaction caused by tires, can reduce productivity over the years.” Indeed, every tire tread can mean fewer crops because compaction affects soil porosity and as such, infiltration capacity, making the water with nutrients and pesticides not pass the surface and reaches where it should.
The test results show that using the lowest possible pressure as recommended by the app Trelleborg Load Calculator, compaction is significantly reduced. This became clear after the water infiltration test conducted during the event.
Another benefit for agricultural professionals by proper inflation pressure in the tires of your machinery is that it can reduce working time to 17 percent and labor costs up to 25 percent. “In this situation everyone wins,” says Ciferri. “Along with the economic benefits, the real savings is in improving soil structure.”
Previous tests have shown that substantial benefits are achieved by lowering inflation pressures, with the specification that only tires with superior features, such as the TM1000 High Power, can work well, inside or outside the field. “The Trelleborg tires shown, allow you to drive on the ground at low pressures while at the same time can drive on the highway at higher speeds,” concludes Ciferri.
Starting in Germany in June and continuing until the end of 2016, the Road Show will visit fairs and field events customers in seven European countries, China and South Africa to show the latest generation of Trelleborg tires and complete wheels.
