Spanish fishing industry supports the fight against cancer
The Muriel Angel Foundation has held the First Golf Tournament having raised the funds to provide psychological support to cancer patients and their families and to encourage medical research
The Angel Muriel, the first country Spanish organization dedicated to the fight against cancer and driven by a company in the fisheries sector, Foundation celebrated its First Golf Tournament on July 11, in the Bellavista Golf Club of Huelva. Proceeds will be used to provide psychological support to people diagnosed with cancer and their families and promote progress in research and treatment of this disease.
Born in April, the Angel Muriel Foundation is dedicated to the memory of the former president of the company Baltimar (Heirs of Angel Muriel) and the National Association of Shipowners of Fisheries Seafood (Anamar) died because of a cancer in 2014.
In addition to providing psychological support to patients and relatives, the Muriel Angel Foundation provides training and has a prevention and social service employment counseling. Also among his projects it included the convening of the first edition of the Awards for Medical Research and Research in Cancer Care, in collaboration with the official schools of Medicine and Nursing Huelva, respectively.
The Foundation has also signed agreements with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, Onubense Breast Cancer Association of St. Agatha, the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) and the Mapfre Foundation.
