National Conference Dried Fruit of Agri-food Cooperatives

On Thursday, June 30th, Agri-food Cooperatives of Spain celebrates in Albacete its National Conference of Dried Fruit, with the collaboration of this organization in Castilla-La Mancha. An event that responds to the growing interest of farmers for the crop in general and in particular Almond, as a result, among other things, of the continued increase in demand and the consequent rise in prices in recent years.
The Day will begin at 9:30 am and will be held at the Hotel Beatriz de Albacete, where a large group of co-operators, technicians and professionals will gather. The contents of the program, by high-level speakers, are intended to attract the attention of cooperatives from other sectors towards the cultivation of nuts, in order to support product management and publicize the experience of cooperatives specialized.
Among the topics, they highlight the ‘Current problems of bitter almonds and solutions for its eradication’, obtaining new varieties of product, market prospects, the novel aspects of the line of nuts of agricultural insurance, vertebrador role of cooperatives, and the product offering to finance new plantations of nuts.
Experts in specialized topics
This event will feature the participation of experts who, through their presentations, addressed the issue and present of a specialized fashion sector. Thus, from ACM specialists Agroalimentarios Risks (brokerage Cooperative Agro-food Castilla-La Mancha), Pedro Leandro Mayorga will release new insurance holdings nuts, accompanied by the director of Agricultural Canal of MAPFRE Spain, Juan Saez that will advise on how to adapt certain nuts to the reality of each farm.
In addition, two researchers of CEBAS Murcia will aspects of the problem of bitter almond, obtaining and handling variety of almond. On the other hand, it has scheduled a round table which will involve a cast of industry experts to give an overview of the current problems surrounding the nuts sector.
Meanwhile, Banco Santander will announce a new financial product, especially designed to support farmers to undertake new plantings of nuts.
