Inter-American Meeting of Organic Agriculture in Buenos Aires

From 8th to 10th August, the capital of Argentina will host for the first time the Ordinary Assembly on organic food production, which held in its eighth edition, the Inter-American Commission for Organic Agriculture (CIAO) and where will be presented the proposed plan work for the period 2016-2017.
Then of the Assembly, the Ministry of Agro Industry of Argentina will hold on 11th August, the International Seminar on Organic Production as a strategy of adding value to agriculture industry, in which experts in the field will share their experiences.
In addition to the host country, the meeting will be attended by delegates from Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, United States, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay.
In the meeting also will participate officials of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), an organization that develops the Executive Secretariat of the Commission.
The CIAO is made up of competent control authorities and promotion of organic agriculture in the countries concerned, who are responsible for regulating the activity and ensure the organic status of products.
The Commission was established by a resolution of the Inter-American Board of Agriculture (made up of the ministers of agriculture of the region) to the need to contribute to strengthening the bodies involved in the chain of organic production.
