Agrifood Business Day: Chain Law and Corporate Criminal Liability

On June 23th will be held a conference on corporate criminal responsibility of food companies, linked to the introduction of Law 12/2013 of measures to improve the functioning of the food chain, organized by the firm legal advice Acountax with the Interalimentario Forum. During this meeting, to be held at the headquarters of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) in Madrid, it will be recalled that the aim of the law is to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the sector and that the imbalance is reduced in trade relations between the different operators in the chain value.
Also, will be discussed the effects of this new regulation, which affects the interrelation of agrifood companies and a novelty that also affects them, following the entry into force on 1st July 2015 of the Penal Code as regards the legal figure of the Criminal Liability of Legal Persons.
The event will begin with the intervention of the CEO of Forum Interalimentario, Victor Yuste, and the President of Acountax, Manuel Lamela. Then there will be the presentation of José Miguel Herrero, Director of the Information Agency and Food Control (AICA). Later, in an open discussion between the three responsible cited, along with the addition of Agustín Herrero, Director General of Agrifood Cooperatives of Spain, the problem of the practical application of the law will be addressed.
The third block of the event called “Protocols in preventing crimes of agrifood companies” will be a discussion with the participation of, among others, José María Campos, Director of Internal Regime and Legal CEOE, and Miguel Sanchez Iniesta, President Section of Commercial and Corporate law Bar Association of Madrid.
