Mitas intends to launch PneuTrac in two years
Due to the positive developments during testing, Mitas has outlined its objectives for the future development of PneuTrac. The goal for 2016 is to measure and compare the characteristics of Mitas PneuTrac and rubber tracks for positioning PneuTrac clearly among the solutions offered by the tires and caterpillars on the market. The target set by Mitas is to have all the data necessary for a successful market launch in late 2017.
Mitas concept development PneuTrac has reached a new milestone with the start of the field tests, which show the clear advantages of their larger footprint and traction on a standard tire as well as agricultural tires IF.
“The footprint and tensile strength of Mitas PneuTrac and rubber tracks are superior to traditional tires. The next step is to compare the PneuTrac with rubber tracks and see how close they are, “said Andrew Mabin, director of marketing and sales of Mitas. “We are approaching the time when we can indicate the release date. Our goal is to launch the PneuTrac in about two years. ”
Mitas is conducting field trials in the Czech Republic with a tractor equipped with John Deere 6150R PneuTrac 480/65 R28 on the front axle and 600/65 R38 on the rear PneuTrac. The results show that the tensile strength of Mitas 600/65 R38 PneuTrac is about 25% more than a standard tire and 15% compared with a tire IF. If we look more closely at PneuTrac 480/65 R28, this is about a 10% advantage in pulling force on a standard tire and about 7% on the tire IF.
“The results of the first field trials being carried out in the Czech Republic mark the way to continue the successful development of the concept Mitas PneuTrac” said Andrew Mabin, director of marketing and sales of Mitas.
Sliding and pulling force they are measured under various driving modes, and the evaluation result is compared traction slip which normally occurs during normal agricultural work (about 15%). The results are based on measurements made on 22 July 2015 has made measurements of the Research Institute of Agricultural Engineering. “Field tests have shown the clear advantages of PneuTrac on tires with conventional design and confirm previous laboratory data. The most important benefits are PneuTrac a larger footprint, its high traction and lateral stability with low pressure when compared with a standard tire, “said Mabin.
Mitas is developing its PneuTrac concept with its partner, Galileo and Galileo Mitas Wheel Ltd. have worked hard for four years to build the PneuTrac concept from an idea to the laboratory and field demonstration finally. This concept tire had its public presentation in the German Agritechnica 2013, where he was awarded. Mitas presented on that occasion the PneuTrac 280/70 R18 and 600/65 R38. In Paris SIMA show in February 2015, he presented the PneuTrac Mitas 480/65 R28, which was the third measure of this revolutionary concept.
