Fruit Logistica 2016 held a conference on the logistical challenges of international trade in fruit and vegetables
Fruit Logistica, the most important fresh produce industry trade platform, choose Port of Barcelona to celebrate the upcoming December 15 its first event in Spain dedicated to the importance of logistics in international trade of fruits and vegetables. The collaboration between the Berlin fair and Port of Barcelona especially intended to emphasize the logistical challenges that arise when exports are addressed long distance as they can be targeted to Asian or Latin American markets.
The opening ceremony will be given by Ms. Rosa Puig, Commercial Director of Port of Barcelona, who highlighted the commitment of the Catalan horticultural sector by opening new international markets. Subsequently, Mr. José Luis Guarda, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Generalitat of Catalonia, will welcome attendees at this conference organized by FRUIT LOGISTICA in liaison with the port facility that seeks to position itself as a gateway to Europe for imports from overseas.
The session will include the involvement of Robert D. Perucho, Commercial Director of Fruits de Ponent, who discussed the logistical challenges that the Catalan company has successfully overcome to become one of the leaders in the horticultural international scene. In addition, Paul D. Vilanova explain the firm commitment of Mercabarna, Barcelona Wholesale Market for continuous improvement of the logistics of fresh produce.
As international and counterpoint directly from Germany, moves to participate in day Alex Von D. Stempel, Director General of Cool Logistics Asia, a contest of high-level, held parallel to the fair Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong, addresses each year the situation of logistics in Asia. Finally, the organizers of the fair, Ms. Silvia Juanes, Director of Communications at FRUIT LOGISTICA for Spain and Latin America, will present the novelties of the next edition of the fair, among which is Logistics Hub, a series of events will address, from 3 to 5 February and in the same part of the fair, the ten most pressing issues of the international supply chain in fresh.
In the last edition 2015, FRUIT LOGISTICA had 65,000 trade visitors from over 135 countries. 2,785 exhibitors from 83 countries presented a wide range of products from all sectors of the horticultural trade.
