First National Congress on transport of live animals
The National Transport Association Live Animals (ANTA) organized the First National Congress of Live Animals, where carriers companies in the meat and livestock sector, associations and government agencies around the country with one reason cited transport of animals.
We could count on the presence of a permanent member of the State Council, members of the Ministries of Interior, Public Works, Agriculture, Food and Environment and the Traffic Civil Guard.
The fact of having members of the AAPP in areas as different activities and put in relevance has difficulty organizing such an everyday activity and relevant issue for the sector and for society as this link so fundamental to our agricultural sector fall excessive rules and with different backgrounds.
This in itself is the first conclusion of this Congress simply is not enough, add value to the work of carriers of animals and the complexity of its regulatory framework, which must be met inter alia animal welfare standards and freight traffic regulations.
At this first meeting, it has highlighted the clear need to structure an activity such as transportation and above this the relatively urgent, to mediate and talk to all these authorities in such different materials need; all AAPP have to know the specifics of the transport of animals and as such are taken into account in the development of standards, where it is taken into account to carriers and the industry in general in important issues such as biosafety centers cleaning and disinfection, the maximum authorized mass, dimensions of vehicles, driving and rest time to adapt to cargo carriers and a long list of problems that could go unnoticed if not known in detail this sector.
For us, this Congress has been the cornerstone of a long way to value real situation and the transport of animals, which hopefully in the near future we can adapt the rules to reality and bring private sector management, with two main objectives, improve among all this fundamental activity in the domestic agricultural sector and give its relevance as a transversal and intersectoral activity.
