Bolus Calform® to prevent and treat hypocalcemia in cattle
Bayer has launched a new presentation of Calform® Bolus, the only currently available bolo combining calcium formate and magnesium chloride to prevent and treat lack of calcium during lactation or calcium therapy.
Each bolus contains 44 grams of calcium and 8 g of magnesium (30% more magnesium than the previous presentation, which makes it more resistant); These amounts are necessary to prevent and treat hypocalcemia.
The calcium formate calcium released a similar chloride concentration, but without causing irritation of the esophagus. In addition, blood releases quickly and at high concentration.
On the other hand, magnesium chloride has a dual key role in stimulating the presence of calcium in the body of the cow at the time of childbirth: It plays a key role in the regulation of calcium in the body (active parathyroid hormone ), and active enzymatic reactions directly involved in metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, besides being crucial in neuromuscular function.
Calform® Bolus is presented in the form of bolus of 202 grams, which is considered a good way to avoid the risk of false swallowing. The bolus is administered orally, by an applicator, at the first signs of labor and to following the same two days.
