The food industry highlights the good prospects for strengthening their competitiveness
The Spanish Federation of Food and Drink Industries (FIAB) today held its General Assembly in December. In it, they have highlighted the positive growth expectations for the food industry, consolidating and first industrial sector. One of the main variables that corroborate its solvency is employment, because in November 2015 had registered 397,750 members of Social Security, representing more than 12,000 higher compared to November 2014. Thus, the average annual growth would 2.2%. Furthermore, in terms of occupied EPA, the growth of industry food and beverages was 1.5%.
During the meeting, President of FIAB, Mané Calvo also stressed the strategic nature of the sector as an economic driver and an example of culture, talent, prestige and good work, inside and outside our country; and as the backbone of the territory, population and fixer generator of employment and wealth.
The Director General of FIAB, Mauricio Garcia de Quevedo, highlighted the profound transformation of the Federation during 2015, with a new President, the Vice renewal and closure of organizational management. In this exercise, he said, “it has given greater transparency, agility and efficiency to the organization to meet the needs of industry and society. It has also been assumed in order to expand the areas of Administration working with FIAB, like that of adding value gain visibility. ”
Furthermore, the General Assembly of FIAB has encouraged all sectors that comprise it to continue working on the marked lines, with the responsibility of being the cohesive element of almost 30,000 companies and half a million direct employees who work hard to provide the safe and quality consumer products.
Recognition of a lifetime
After the meeting was a recognition of the fact Assistant Member of FIABGoverning Board and Director of Nestlé Spain, Juan Camín. The tribute was chaired by the Secretary General of Agriculture and Food of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA), Carlos Cabanas, who underlined the importance of the food industry as a key player in the Spanish economy, as well as the role FIAB’s in working together for the betterment of industry and the common commitment to society. The Federation has sought to highlight the constant work of Juan Camín and his personal contribution to the enhancement of the sector.
