CAAE will only accept UNE fertilizers accredited in organic farming
The leading entity in Europe will not accept any fertilizer certification, other than the public and accredited UNE standard. This measure undertaken by CAAE aims to give greater transparency and guarantee to the organic production sector.
The initiative provides security to producers, avoiding penalties for improper use of fertilizers, as well as the loss of value of their productions. The UNE standard makes it possible to eliminate false bio fertilizers from the market, in addition to harmonizing the validation of a fertilizer as usable in organic farming.
CAAE, immediately, has instructed its auditors and inspectors, both in Spain and in all the countries in which it operates, to ensure that fertilizers protected by certifications outside the UNE standard are not being used or that they do not have Complete information of its origin and composition. For this, CAAE has established a transition period during 2020, since as of January 1, 2021 only fertilizers certified by the UNE standard will be admitted.
CAAE has transmitted the adoption of these measures to all competent authorities, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, sector associations, the agents involved in the sector, as well as its 17,500 certified operators.
