Yara Safety day: job security a priority

Zero injuries. For achieving this target must involve all company employees through continuous training. The Norwegian multinational, Yara, takes example and held last September 23 its Safety Day, a day devoted to instruction in safety.

Instituted in its philosophy Safe by Choice, this event, which took place in parallel in all business units Yara in Europe, served to bring the team to the 2000 company workers in different segment- certain theoretical and practical notions related to safety at work. Thus, courses in first aid and firefighting were given.

Safety in the workplace is a priority for Yara. Sample this commitment arises Safe by Choice, a system designed to define an entire culture and way of understanding the work which wants to share with each and every link in the chain of distribution and consumption of our solutions concept. This safety culture is founded on four principles, called Yara Safety Principles, which define the responsibilities to implement, summarizes a doctrine and a corporate attitude towards safety.

The ultimate goal of this culture and the activities organized in this context is clear: zero accidents bring Yara environment. Through the implementation of the Safety Day we want to educate the team of the importance of safety in the workplace and that any accident is predictable and therefore preventable. In short, prevention better than cure. This day is also wants to raise awareness among all employees play a vital role in reducing accidents at work and that message should be moved to dealers and other links in the chain.

Beyond mere speech, Yara wanted to put security as one of the pillars of its strategy for future campaigns. In this sense, Svein Tore, recently appointed CEO of Yara said in his welcoming speech: “I subscribe fully to the principles of Safe by Choice I really believe that achieving the goal of zero accidents is possible.”

This event took place simultaneously in Madrid and Almeria, where the multinational has a bottling plant and logistics center. The whole team was training in first aid -in the company headquarters in Madrid and fire fighting which took place at the training center that Tepesa Training Centre Fire Fighting, provides the Madrid suburb of Brunete-.
Safety Day served not only to raise awareness but also to foster the emotional component on which the culture is based Safe by Choice. On the one hand, the sense of teamwork is essential to the fulfillment of the principles of Safe by Choice. Moreover, this culture, launching globally, requires the commitment of all. Because only working as a team will be able to achieve the common goal of zero injuries.
