Registered unemployment in the agricultural sector in July 2026 increased by 122 people, bringing the sector’s total unemployment to 70,296, according to data released by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.
This increase represents a 0.17% rise in agricultural unemployment compared to June. However, in a year-over-year comparison, the report shows 8,099 fewer unemployed people in the sector, a reduction of 10.33%.
As for the number of employed workers, there are a total of 207,850 farm workers with jobs. Meanwhile, the number of unemployed job seekers stands at 85,474.
Overall, Spain’s economy saw an increase in unemployment of 19,517 people in July, bringing the total to 2,311,499—the lowest figure for this month since 2007. Year-over-year, unemployment has fallen by 93,107 people (-3.87%).
The agricultural sector, a key factor in the extraordinary regularization
One of the reasons for this overall increase in unemployment this month is the extraordinary regularization of immigrants carried out by the government, a process that has led to more people registering with the General Social Security System and, consequently, with the state unemployment program.
The number of foreign members who have been regularized through the special enrollment process reached 262,475 in July. Of this total, 213,883 people are covered by the General Social Security System as wage employees. Meanwhile, 21,718 workers (8.3%) among the new regularised affiliates are agricultural workers, according to the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration.
They are followed by domestic workers (14,054, 5.4%), workers who have registered with the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (12,675, 4.8%), and fishing professionals (144, 0.05%).
