Elected Andalusia Awards for Agriculture and Fisheries to Sustain, Innovation and Diversification

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development has failed its 2016 Agriculture and Fisheries awards for sustainability, innovation and economic diversification, whose delivery ceremony will take place on May 16th at the Rectorate of the University of Cordoba. With these awards, are recognized the effort, work and innovative spirit of companies, entities, professionals and outstanding citizens in the agricultural, livestock, fisheries and agri-food sectors of Andalusia.

Brave policies for sustaining fisheries in the Mediterranean sea

Spain has invited the countries bordering the Mare Nostrum and the European Government to take “bold steps” to promote sustainable fisheries management in those waters, which impact the benefit of fishing communities. His thesis argues for tighter regulation of the effort exerted by recreational fishing, the establishment of new protected areas and the increase in the reduction effort aimed at the most sensitive fleets.

Ecuador and Spain cooperate in aquaculture and fisheries

Strengthen ties of mutual cooperation to promote the development and improvement of aquaculture-fisheries sector was the purpose of the meeting between officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (MAGAP), the National Fisheries Institute (INP), and representatives of the National Association of Manufacturers of Canned Fish and Shellfish (ANFACO-CECOPESCA) of Spain.

Spain presents the capacity to the fishing of bluefin tuna in 2016

The European country will have 3,534 tons of bluefin tuna to capture this season. The fishing opportunities for the Spanish fleet increased by 19.53%, 577 more than in 2015. All types of fishing, comprising 315 vessels and traps, see this increase reflected tonnes. The modalities of canaries pole-and-catch of artisanal Strait and the Mediterranean, the most artisanal fleets will see increased its share by a greater amount.

Mexico: Fishing for tuna in the Pacific has already begun

The government has given free rein to start from January 18 the 2016 fishing season for the different species of tuna in the Pacific Ocean, ending on November 18 of this year. Through the National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA) in coordination with the National Fisheries Institute (INAPESCA), the ban applies to protect productive periods of the commercial species of tuna. In the last 10 years there has been an average production of 138,632 tonnes of tuna, with an average growth rate of 1.48%.

The Spanish fleet could return to Mauritanian fishing grounds in early December

Last November 16 was signed in Brussels the Protocol to the Fisheries Agreement between the European Union and Mauritania, after approval by the Council, allowing its provisional application. The Mauritanian fishery is of great importance to the Spanish fleet dedicated to catching shellfish and hake, as well as the fleet led to the capture of tuna and other migratory species.
