According to data from the Department of Customs and Excise, processed by FEPEX, within the berries group, strawberries remain the main product by volume, with 265,183 tonnes, representing 62% of total exports, followed by blueberries with 100,241 tonnes (23.5%), and raspberries with 53,178 tonnes (12.5%).
To a lesser extent, blackberries reach 6,765 tonnes, accounting for 1.6% of the total, and redcurrants 1,160 tonnes, representing 0.3%.
In terms of value, strawberries also lead with €871 million, representing 41% of the total, followed by blueberries with €691.5 million (33%), and raspberries with €505 million (23.9%). Blackberries account for €43 million, and redcurrants €3.7 million.
The export structure of Spanish berries shows a high concentration in three main products, which together represent more than 98% of the total both in volume and value.
Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries account for 98% of total exported volume and value, confirming their predominant weight in the sector. Meanwhile, minority products such as blackberries and redcurrants maintain a smaller presence, although they contribute to diversifying the export offer, according to FEPEX.
Regarding destinations, Spain’s berry exports are clearly dominated by the EU market, with a strong concentration in Western European countries, with Germany, France and the United Kingdom as the main markets.
Germany ranks as the top destination, with 123,851 tonnes (29% of total exports) and a value of €631 million (30% of total value).
France is the second destination, with 60,432 tonnes (14%) and €226.1 million (11%), while outside the EU, the United Kingdom ranks third, with 46,675 tonnes (10.9%) and €281 million (13%).
Other significant markets include the Netherlands, with 42,623 tonnes and €242 million, and Italy, with 30,181 tonnes (7.1%) and €119 million.
This positioning reinforces Spain’s role as a key supplier of berries within the European Union, offering high‑value fresh products with a strong presence in the main consumer markets.
Within this context, the International Berry Congress, organised by the Huelva Association of Strawberry Producers and Exporters, Freshuelva—part of FEPEX—will hold its 11th edition on June 17 and 18 in Huelva.
The 11th Berry Congress will take place at the Casa Colón in Huelva and will feature four areas of activity. First, there will be an official programme of conferences, presentations and round tables addressing topics such as innovation, sustainability, marketing, new market opportunities, and the health and socioeconomic value of berries.
There will also be an exhibition area with commercial stands where companies will showcase their products and services. A third space will host commercial presentations, with a parallel programme of technical talks delivered by companies and suppliers. Finally, there will be an area dedicated to business meetings to encourage networking between companies and speakers.
After bringing together more than 1,700 professionals in its previous edition, the Congress has opened the reservation period for exhibition spaces, and registrations can now be completed through the official website: www.congresofrutosrojos.com.
