Spain: The fisheries inspection is reinforced from the air

The Ministries of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the Interior will collaborate on fisheries inspection activities. The Civil Guard operates two helicopters of the General Secretariat of Fisheries, designed specifically for the control, surveillance and fisheries inspection.

The Ministries of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the Interior will collaborate on fisheries inspection activities. The Civil Guard operates two helicopters of the General Secretariat of Fisheries, designed specifically for the control, surveillance and fisheries inspection.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA) has given to the Directorate General of the Civil Guard of the Ministry of Interior, the use of two helicopters, owned by the General Secretariat of Fisheries, for performing fisheries inspection activities. The reception of helicopters, held today at the Air and Logistic Park Airport Albacete, he has attended the general director of Fisheries Management, Carlos Larrañaga and the Director General of the Civil Guard, Arsenio Fernandez de Mesa.

This cession is the result of agreement between the two ministries in the field of rationalization of the CORA government, and supplemented with a new release of two helicopters specifically designed to control, fisheries inspection and surveillance, which remain and will operate the Civil Guard.

Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, through the General Secretariat of Fisheries will have more operational and more flight hours devoted to fisheries inspection at a lower cost, and will be able to use other air resources from the Civil Guard for fisheries inspection missions.

The Civil Guard helicopters available for under its main fisheries inspection activity, to also develop other tasks performed this service at sea. The operational implementation of these helicopters will be implemented through annual agreements between both Ministries (PACIAP), where the operation and budget lines will be described.

Collaboration between the two ministries in the area of ​​control of fishing activities, based on the Framework Agreement signed in 1997, to cover all its dimensions and strengthens: ground (with Seprona included in the current PACIAP), sea (with the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard, also with the current PACIAP) and air (with the Air Service of the Civil Guard).
