Spain: Olive-pomace oil Interprofessional Organization is official

The General Council of Interprofessional Agri-food Organizations (OIA) of Spain has approved the application for recognition of the Interprofessional Organization olive pomace oil. This new Interprofessional join with the existing ones in the olive sector, such as the Interprofessional Organization table olives and the Spanish Olive Oil Interprofessional Organization.

The General Council of Interprofessional Agri-food Organizations (OIA) of Spain has approved the application for recognition of the Interprofessional Organization olive pomace oil. This new Interprofessional join with the existing ones in the olive sector, such as the Interprofessional Organization table olives and the Spanish Olive Oil Interprofessional Organization.

The Olive-pomace oil Interprofessional Organization is made in the production branch of the National Association of Oil Marc (ANEO), Agrifood Cooperatives and the Spanish Federation of Olive Oil Industrialists and manufacturers (INFAOLIVA).

In industrial processing or branch, this new OIA consists of the National Association of Olive-pomace oil (ANEO), the National Association of Manufacturers Bottling and Refining of Edible Oils (ANIERAC) and the Spanish Association of Industry and Commerce Exporter of Olive Oil (ASOLIVA).

The Council examined and approved unanimously the recognition of this new Interprofessional Organization, which will play a key role in bringing together the interests of Olive-pomace oil industry in our country.

According to data provided by the Agency for Information and Food Control, AICA, the production of olive-pomace oil for the 2013/2014 marketing year was 136 395 tonnes, of which 81% occurred in Andalusia. According to these data, the production of olive-pomace oil has increased by 20% in the last five years and Spain is the world leader in production and export of oil refined olive pomace-oil. The main export destinations are Italy, USA and Portugal.
