Spain: Michelin reorganizes its logistics network

After the first announcement made last December 5, Michelin now introduced draft reorganization of its logistics network to Andorra, Spain and Portugal. The Group will build a logistics center in Illescas, which will cover an area of ​​50,000 m2. It also stores its factories in Valladolid and Vitoria with the construction of 60,000 m2 of new space will be expanded.

The new logistics center, to be called European Distribution Centre (EDC), will have 50,000 m2 of total area to meet the distribution needs of Andorra, Spain and Portugal from the Toledo town of Illescas.

The Valladolid factory will increase its storage facilities with 30,000 m2 of finished products, which are attached to the existing area of ​​25,000 m2, which will increase to more than double its capacity to store tires. The project carries with it the creation of 10 new loading docks and the expansion of the parking area for trailer load of products in 68 places. In this factory, producing tires for high performance cars, agricultural vehicles and renovated truck and bus tires is performed.

Vitoria plant will increase its logistics facilities, located in Araia (Álava), with the construction of 30,000 m2 of warehouse, which join the existing 50,000 m2 and that will store, in addition to tires produced in Vitoria, tire production motorcycle plant Lasarte-Oria (Guipúzcoa). The project includes the creation of 19 new loading docks and 20 new parking spaces for trailers. Vitoria car tires of midrange and tires for public works and mining are made.
