Spain: Francisco Marcén, new president of INTEROVIC

The General Assembly of the Inter-Organization Agrolimentaria of sheep and goats (INTEROVIC) elected as new president Marcén Francisco, will hold the position from Agri-food Cooperatives Spain.

The General Assembly of the Inter-Organization Agrolimentaria of sheep and goats (INTEROVIC) elected as new president Marcén Francisco, will hold the position from Agri-food Cooperatives Spain.

Francisco Marcen is replacing Rafael Crespo and becomes president in a particularly relevant for this Interprofessional coinciding with the entry into force of the second extension industry standard, published in the Official Gazette on November 25 last time, and full development of the European program of promotion of lamb and suckling in Spain that began last year and will run until 2017.

The new president of INTEROVIC, with a long career in the industry, was a founding partner of Meat Aragon, now Oviaragón in 1981 and is currently Director General of Shepherds Cooperative Group.

He has been a member of the Inteprofesional since its inception and, prior to his appointment as current President, has served as President of the Commission for the Promotion of the European program of promotion of lamb meat in Spain which is funded by the EU, the Ministry Agriculture, Food and Environment (Magrama) and the contributions of farmers and marketers of sheep through Spain Extension Standard.

So, that campaign has a budget of 4 million euros financed by the EU (50% and two million), the Government of Spain, through the Magrama, (25% and one million euros) and industry itself (25% and one million euros) and will run for three years: 2015, 2016 and 2017.
