With the arrival of March, the days grow longer and temperatures begin to rise, marking the start of the spring season in nurseries, which are preparing to meet the demand for crops typical of this time of year.
In the Iberian Peninsula, the typically Mediterranean climate and habitat have favored aromatic plants becoming essential crops for both producers and points of sale, such as garden centers and specialized shops. Species like lavender, rosemary, spearmint, thyme, sage, or santolina are common and, in many cases, can be found throughout the year.
Most of these aromatic and culinary plants show excellent adaptation to their environment, being able to withstand extreme temperatures, as they grow wild in the mountains across the peninsula. However, for proper cultivation, these species require particularly good rootball drainage and optimal root aeration.
For years, GRAMOFLOR has offered several specific substrates that fully meet the needs and requirements of these crops: the VR·3-G substrate, the ES Topf substrate, and the ES Container substrate.
These products are made from a precise combination of blond peat, coconut fiber, gramoFLAKES® and LIGNOFIBRE®, providing excellent drainage and aeration characteristics in the root zone. The presence of gramoFLAKES® in these three substrates not only ensures good drainage and aeration but also promotes the development of healthy, vigorous roots, thus preventing losses in aromatic plant crops.
These GRAMOFLOR substrates also incorporate gramoNPK-standard and gramoMICRODEPOT fertilizers, which provide the necessary nutrition to obtain robust, compact plants with intense color.
The success of numerous trials carried out by GRAMOFLOR’s R&D Department with these formulations across a wide variety of aromatic crops guarantees the effectiveness of these products throughout the Iberian Peninsula, making them a benchmark for the cultivation of aromatic and culinary plants.
