The next World Avocado Congress will be held in Peru

The solid growth in the sector presented by Peru in recent years earned him to be chosen as the headquarters of the VIII World Avocado Congress, to be held from 13 to 18 September. The event, organized by Prohass, is the most important for Hass avocado industry worldwide.

The president of the International Avocado Society and the Association of Producers and Exporters of Palta Hass Peru, Prohass, James Bosworth, said recently that in the past 15 years the country has become the second largest exporter in the world with 165,000 tonnes recorded last year.

In those days Peru will host producers, exporters, importers and researchers from over 25 countries.

The program features presentations by international experts. The main topics include: genetic resources and nurseries, pests and diseases, field management, post-harvest, marketing and foreign trade. And for the first time the impact of the consumption of this fruit in nutrition and health of people by leading US scientists will be addressed.

Also in the social agenda it has included a cultural and gastronomic tour for visitors, who will also find a trade show where industry can present their brands and products.

“Today the main destinations of our avocados are Europe and the United States, representing 90% of our exports,” said James Bosworth.

For a week the audience of prominent delegations from Germany, England, America, France, Holland, Canada, among others, exchange knowledge, experiences, reflections and research in order to boost the industry, global consumption and the opening of new markets .
