The 10th National BusinessAGRO Forum for Agro-Professional Women – MujerAGRO will take place for the first time in Catalonia, marking a milestone year for the project. This edition coincides with the tenth anniversary of MujerAGRO—an initiative led by Siete Agromarketing—and introduces a renewed focus that places women’s leadership at the centre of the agri‑food debate.
Lleida has been chosen as the host city for this special edition. On 10 June 2026, La Llotja will bring together women from across the agri‑food value chain under the theme “From Equality to the New Agri‑Food Leadership.”
Ten Years of Progress: A Turning Point
This tenth edition represents a moment of reflection for the MujerAGRO project. Over the past decade, the Forum has evolved from a visibility platform into a consolidated agenda within the sector. Its journey through cities such as Seville, Toledo, Córdoba, Valencia, Zaragoza, Cáceres, Almería and Ciudad Real has created a national meeting point for professionals, companies and institutions committed to equity.

The focus now goes beyond women’s presence in the sector. It shifts toward their role in management, decision‑making, business leadership and representation. As Gissèle Falcón de Haro, director of Siete Agromarketing and the MujerAGRO Project, explains, the Forum is experiencing “a qualitative leap: we are no longer talking only about equality as a goal, but about how that equality translates into real, visible leadership with influence in the agri‑food sector.”
The event also aligns with the international momentum generated by the United Nations’ declaration of 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
Lleida: A Strategic Agri‑Food Hub
Lleida’s selection reflects its importance within Spain’s agri‑food system. The province is a major hub for sweet fruit—especially pears, apples and stone fruit—alongside significant extensive crops. Within Catalonia, agriculture and livestock coexist with a strong food industry, making the region a key player in the national agri‑food landscape.
The Forum will highlight the role of women in Catalonia’s agri‑food sector, with particular attention to the province of Lleida, where agriculture remains central and women continue to gain ground in production, business and representation.
Institutional Support
The event is backed by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The regional minister, Òscar Ordeig i Molist, has stressed the urgency of accelerating gender equality in the agrarian sector, describing women as a strategic pillar for the future of agri‑food systems.
He emphasised that women “not only participate in agri‑food systems: they sustain them, transform them and shape their future,” and noted that advancing equality is essential for food security, climate sustainability and social justice.
The minister highlighted ongoing work on the Statute of Rural and Sea Women, aimed at ensuring effective equality and improving women’s access to decision‑making spaces. He also recalled FAO reports showing persistent barriers for women in access to land, credit, technology and leadership roles.
The Generalitat will prioritise support for farmers and livestock producers who live and work in rural areas, “with special attention to women,” to promote generational renewal and a more balanced model.
