This is a series of initiatives which would bring development, employment and economic recovery in the province of Puntarenas.

President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solis and tourism minister, Mauricio Ventura, announced Friday intended to promote rural tourism projects in the Miramar area of Montes de Oro, in the province of Puntarenas , in order to give further development to the district as a tourist destination that promotes job creation and economic recovery.

The Golden Mountains area has great tourism potential due to its biodiversity and variety of forests: rainy, dry and cloudy. The mining history of this canton is part of the cultural and historical attractions that enrich the tourist offer.

President and Minister of Tourism he proposed to the community that the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) will send a mission to work in August, to the area to advise the Chamber of Tourism of the canton, in order to prioritize and identify opportunities for promotion and marketing to publicize the Canton as a tourist destination for domestic and foreign.

“This canton has a huge variety of attractions, it is urgent to make an inventory of all these natural, cultural and rural wealth and ICT will provide the tools to empower Miramar Montes de Oro as a tourist destination,” said Tourism Minister Mauricio Ventura.

The President proposed to the community, during a meeting with living, productive forces and local authorities, the reform Incop Act to include the canton of Montes de Oro in profits and port activity generated by investments of this institution . Currently, the canton, despite its proximity to the Pacific port, is not the subject of investment by this entity.
