Anecoop, Spain’s leading agri‑food cooperative in the marketing of fruit and vegetables, celebrated its 50th Anniversary this afternoon at the Auditorium of the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences. In an emotional ceremony, its president, Alejandro Monzón, and its general manager, Joan Mir, both emphasized that “We celebrate half a century of shared history and values, of unity, of collective effort, and of deep commitment to agriculture, to the land, and to people.”
More than 850 guests gathered to commemorate five decades of progress, in an event primarily dedicated to recognizing and thanking all those who, since its founding in 1975, have made Anecoop’s growth possible, leading it to become an international benchmark in agri‑food cooperativism: founders, members of the Governing Council (past and present), partner entities, farmers, the Anecoop Group’s professional teams, suppliers, collaborators, and organizations and institutions from the agri‑food, scientific, and academic sectors, as well as the media.
Addressing all of them, Anecoop’s president, Alejandro Monzón, expressed: “Thank you for believing in this project. Thank you for believing in the strength of cooperativism.” Looking toward the future, he added: “Today we continue building together what others will carry forward. Through unity, which multiplies, protects, drives, and guarantees the future. Because when Anecoop advances, an entire sector and its people advance — our very reason for being.”
Joan Mir, Anecoop’s general manager, reviewed the achievements and major milestones reached over this half‑century by an organization he described as “adaptive, internationalized, diversified, innovative, and profoundly resilient.” He concluded by focusing on one of the sector’s greatest challenges: generational renewal, addressing his final words to young people: “You have the great responsibility of feeding future generations. We need your energy, your creativity, your talent, and your capacity to transform. You are the future. Our history is in your hands.”
Anecoop, from a disruptive project to an international benchmark in agri‑food cooperativism
Since its creation in 1975, Anecoop has continued to grow until becoming Spain’s leading exporter of fruit and vegetables and an international reference in agri‑food cooperativism. It offers a consistent supply in terms of volume, range, and calendar, present in a total of 74 countries with a portfolio of more than 90 products: citrus fruits, seasonal fruits (summer and autumn), exotic fruits, vegetables grown both in greenhouses and outdoors, as well as juices, canned vegetables, flowers, fifth‑range products, and wines.
Today, it integrates, coordinates, and markets the production of 61 fruit‑and‑vegetable and wine cooperatives and companies, representing more than 20,000 Spanish farmers who cultivate over 61,000 hectares across Spain, specifically in 13 provinces (Valencia, Castellón, Alicante, Murcia, Almería, Cádiz, Sevilla, Huelva, Ciudad Real, Segovia, Valladolid, Navarra, and Lleida). It has a structure made up of five offices in Spain, twelve subsidiaries in eight countries, and two logistics platforms.
