The Salon de Gourmets has closed, once again, a “successful” edition of the “most important” quality food and beverage fair in Europe. With 1,603 exhibitors, more than 40,000 products, 1,300 novelties and more than 90,158 visitors, the Gourmets Group closes the second best edition of its history.
With four pavilions on 2, 4, 6 and 8, an area equivalent to almost eight football fields, next year will be pavilion 10, due to the high demand for firms that want to participate in the only fair dedicated to delicatessen .
A final day full of emotion in which the absolute winner of the 9 GourmetQuesos / Championship of the Best Cheeses of Spain 2018 has been known that has been ‘Olavidia’ Cheese and Kisses of Lácteos Romero Peláez, a soft cheese made in Guarromán, Jaén. In addition, you can already check the 36 best cheeses of Spain classified in 12 different categories.
The 7 Salón de Gourmets Awards have also been handed out among the 1,300 novelties that have been found in the showcases of the 25th New Products Exhibition. The new format of EVO coupage special for octopus Valdezarza Oil has won in the category of innovation; the Belenguer pastry shop with its Art Series, an assortment of hand-painted, gluten-free handmade chocolates, has triumphed in the presentation category and Tudela’s white artichoke from the Vehortu firm has received the award for its versatility.
The representative of Spain in the World Championship of sommeliers is the Mallorcan Roberto Durán Herrera, of the Balearic Association of Sommeliers who won in 2015 and who has revalidated his title by exceeding perfectly a theoretical exam of 30 questions in English, a tasting and a marriage in the 1 Summit of Sommeliers Champions of Spain Tierra de Sabor.
The Salon de Gourmets has finished with one of the novelties of this edition the 100% Raza Autóctona / MAPAMA Cooking Recipes Contest, won by Adrián Reyes from Cádiz and Asturian Pablo García.
The organization has shown its gratitude to all the exhibitors, authorities, media and professional visitors who have turned the 32nd edition into one of the best in history. A year ahead to overcome us at the 33 Gourmet Hall, which will be held on 8, 9, 10 and 11 April 2019.
