Europe is committed to a model of sustainable and high quality wine production in the Region of Priorat, through the LIFE PRIORAT + MONTSANT project, which has a budget of 1.5 million euros, co-financed by the European Union. This initiative is led by a Consortium of five entities, led by VITEC (Wine Technological Center) which, together with the Montsant Denomination of Origin, the Designated Priorat Denomination of Origin, the service company for sustainability Lavola 1981 and the Technology Platform will work for the next four years to develop and demonstrate a model of wine production in this Catalan region, based on the sustainable use of resources and that can be subsequently reproduced in other wine regions, Spanish and European.
The Denomination of Origin (DO) Valdepeñas will once again be present at the Fair of the Field of Manzanares (FERCAM), where it has been participating uninterruptedly throughout 40 years of the history of this event, that this year is celebrating its 57th edition.
FENAVIN, the reference fair in the Spanish wine sector, closed its edition this year with record figures, both in business contacts, a total of 411,000, and visitors, surpassing 108,000 people, half of them direct professionals in the world of the wine. The Abadía Retuerta farm, located in the Valladolid municipality of Sardón del Duero, practices environmentally friendly agriculture and recovers biodiversity in the margins of its vineyards, through Operation Pollinator, an international program implemented by Syngenta with the collaboration of different scientific organizations in Spain, whose objective is the establishment of specific habitats for pollinating insects in the margins of the crops, which allow the creation of natural refuges for pollinators and encourage the presence of other arthropods useful as predators and parasitoids.
